Biography

Yuan Xue is the Program Officer for two flagship programs in the Faculty of Education at the University of ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥: the UC School-based Teacher Education (UC STEP) program, a pioneering partnership with the ACT Education Directorate, and the Master of Education (Leadership & Management) Program in Hangzhou, a long-standing collaboration with overseas partner universities that has been running successfully for more than 25 years.

In the UC STEP program, Yuan provides end-to-end program management, ensuring that daily operations run smoothly while remaining aligned with long-term strategic objectives. As the primary point of contact for students, academic staff, schools, university departments, and government partners, she coordinates across stakeholders to maintain clear and consistent communication. Her portfolio spans student recruitment, program operations, governance, and the student lifecycle. She leads marketing campaigns, manages admissions, and ensures clear processes with transparent results. She oversees daily administration, coordinates study plans and schedules, and liaises with schools and university departments to ensure resources and systems are in place. She also prepares government reports, maintains financial records, and ensures compliance with policy and funding requirements through rigorous quality assurance and risk management practices. Throughout the student journey, from initial enquiry through enrolment, coursework, assessment, placement, and graduation, she provides guidance, resolves issues, clarifies Learning Support Assistant (LSA) roles, advises on the Permit to Teach process, and organises networking sessions that build professional readiness. In doing so, she helps UC STEP fulfil its mission of developing and sustaining the ACT teaching workforce.

In the Hangzhou Master of Education (Leadership & Management) Program, Yuan plays a pivotal role in sustaining one of UC’s longest-standing international collaborations. She leverages her bilingual and bicultural expertise to manage program administration and strengthen partnerships with leading overseas universities. She plans and hosts delegations, works with university faculties to design tailored visit programs, and provides interpretation and cultural liaison during academic exchanges. She also arranges and invigilates examinations, manages the secure transfer of assessments, monitors student progression, and verifies graduation eligibility. As the first point of contact for Hangzhou students, she responds to enquiries and works across university departments to resolve academic and administrative issues with both efficiency and empathy. By combining operational precision with cross-cultural management, Yuan ensures the program operates at the highest standard while reinforcing UC’s reputation for international collaboration and educational excellence.

Yuan holds Master’s degrees in Education, Professional Accounting, and Business, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Japanese Simultaneous Interpreting. This multidisciplinary foundation provides her with expertise in pedagogy and curriculum, financial and analytical management, and cross-cultural communication. Fluent in English, Mandarin, and Japanese, she works confidently across linguistic and cultural contexts, enabling her to adapt with agility and deliver results in complex academic and administrative environments.

Before joining UC, Yuan worked at a Registered Training Organisation specialising in project management training and consulting for the public sector, where she managed student services and administration, overseeing enrolments, scheduling courses, preparing training materials, and supporting trainers and learners. She also liaised with government clients, gaining valuable insight into the compliance and operational demands of delivering professional education programs. This experience continues to inform her work in higher education program management. She brings extensive experience in online teaching, particularly in PTE Academic preparation, where she coached hundreds of students to achieve their target scores through clear, practical strategies. Earlier in her career, she spent four years as a secondary school teacher, working closely with parents and schools to address issues such as underperformance, truancy, family conflict, bullying, and peer relationship challenges. She earned respect for her empathy and practical problem-solving and built strong, positive relationships with both students and parents. She has also worked as an accountant, preparing financial reports, reconciliations, and lodgements. This role sharpened her financial management and compliance expertise, which she now applies in program finance, budgeting, and governance at UC.

Outside of work, Yuan enjoys reading physical books and filling the margins with colourful notes, treating each volume as an ongoing conversation with the author and herself. Music has been a constant in her life: trained in classical bel canto from an early age, she has won several awards and continues to sing with passion. She can swim, though the breathing part still escapes her; she plays badminton and counts every successful return of a smash as a small victory; and she enjoys travelling alone, even if her poor sense of direction sometimes turns a short walk into an unexpected sightseeing tour. These experiences remind her that life, much like work, is rarely a straight line, and that the detours often bring the most rewarding surprises.
