Starting a new course is an exciting step, but it can sometimes feel daunting if you’re unfamiliar with how university works. Before you begin, you’ll need to get a few things in order first.
From accepting your offer and understanding your placement requirements, to organising an international student visa, here’s everything you need to know about getting started at UC.
Accept your offer
Accepting your offer is your first step to joining the UC community. Your offer letter will outline the steps you need to take to accept your offer and secure your place in your course.
Organise accommodation
If you haven’t already started browsing accommodation options, now is a good time to start. You can choose from a range of student housing on or near our Bruce campus, or rent a room, apartment or house elsewhere in greater ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥.
Set up your student account
First thing's first - it's time to set up your student account!
Your username is your student ID with a 'u' in front. Your password should have been issued to you when you accepted your offer, however if you have lost or forgotten it, you can change or .
Your username and password will give you access to your student systems: myUC and UCLearn, as well as your student email account.
Enrol in units
The best place to start with enrolment is to take a look at our online Digital Handbook for your course. It will show you the typical study plan, which is a great place to begin when deciding what units to enrol into.
Once open, you can enrol into units through myUC. We've developed a short enrolment guide to help, and there is also a self-enrolment video in myUC to navigate you through the process.
Accept your offer

Arrange your OSHC
Organising Overseas Student Health Cover is an important part of the admissions process, as you must have it in place before applying for a student visa.
Get your student visa
If you’ll be studying with us on an international student visa, you’ll need to arrange this before you can start your UC degree. We’ll walk you through the process.

Orientation
Orientation is your opportunity to get involved with the UC community and meet your peers. Our events are here for you to find out information about your course, our campus and to build social connections before your studies begin.
Your first 3 weeks at uni
Unit changes
You can change units using the self-enrolment tool until the Friday of Week 1. From Week 2, all units changes must be submitted using the Unit Registration Form.
As a new UC student, you need to complete online modules to help you learn about university life. Log in to to get started.
