Using clay sculpture techniques such as reduction and addition to emulate decomposition and decay by carving into the clay and creating valleys within the work. This piece could be interpreted as a variety of different organic forms found in nature, not just one. The work is detailed and smoothed, experimenting with the different textures found in natural decomposers like mushrooms and lichen. The name of the work 鈥淏ack in the Pulse鈥� relates to the cycle of life. It describes how death isn鈥檛 finite as we return to nature in the end just in a different form, very truly dying.
