What is a health and aged care setting?

The CPOP program works on the premise that ‘older people are everywhere’; CPOP placements therefore occur wherever older people are the majority of people using the service. 

Examples of these can be in acute, community, outreach, palliative, rehabilitation, primary care and residential locations.

What makes a CPOP placement different:

• Students are paired with Registered Nurses at the placement location.
• This might be a different RN on different shifts, but the student always works with RNs (sometimes referred to as a preceptor).
• Students are still able to see the essential roles of the other members of the team such as the Assistants in Nursing, but they are buddied with their RN preceptor.
• The student experience is deepened and enhanced by working on a structured reflective workbook throughout the placement.
• Students are able to nominate preceptors from the organisation for an outstanding preceptor award consisting of a certificate and eftpos card valued at $500. 
• CPOP trained Clinical facilitators from the university * visit the students and are responsible for working towards and finalising their ANSAT assessments.
