Petting zoo, carnival and sumo suits help UC students stress less

11 May 2015: A carnival day, a petting zoo, sumo suits and bubbles are some of the things University of ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ students will be able to enjoy as part of Stress Less Week that starts TODAY.

Designed to help students de-stress ahead of exams the following week, a number of activities have been organised by UC Life! –  including a jumping castle, bungee run, goats, bunnies and other animals to pat, bubble wrap to pop and a bubble machine.

The exam period can be a stressful time for students, but University of ÃØÃÜÖ±²¥ wellbeing expert Dr Thomas Nielsen said there are "positive psychology strategies" they can put into place. He said these include "self-coping mechanisms like taking care of their sleep, diet and getting some exercise."

  • Dr Nielsen can discuss strategies students can use to cope with stressful situations
  • Campus life coordinator Kristy Hodder can discuss the event
