Vocational Education Pathways

From TAFE to Uni

Here at UC, we believe no two journeys to uni are the same. Whether your background's in hands-on training, or you’ve followed a different path entirely, we recognise the value of experience.

If you've studied at a local or interstate vocational education provider, like CIT or TAFE NSW for example, your experience could help you gain entry and even earn credit towards your dream degree at UC.

This means your path to uni might be easier and quicker than you once thought because at UC it's not about where you started, it's about where you're going.

Am I eligible?

You can use your VET qualification to get into UC if you have completed one of the below qualifications from a recognised Australian provider, such as TAFE, CIT or a Registered Training Organisation.

Certificate III

A complete AQF Certificate III will enable you to apply for courses with a selection rank of 67.*

Certificate IV

A complete AQF Certificate IV will enable you to apply for courses with a Selection Rank of 73.*

Diploma

A complete AQF Diploma will enable you to apply for courses with a Selection Rank of 75.*

Advanced Diploma

A complete AQF Advanced Diploma will enable you to apply for courses with a Selection Rank of 76.*

You may also need to meet additional course-specific requirements. Find your course to check admissions criteria.

If you’re not eligible based on one of the above pathways, we invite you to explore our range of alternative admissions options or to contact us to discuss your individual circumstances.

Can I get credit?

You may be able to receive credit towards your UC program if you have a completed Certificate III or higher. Receiving credit may shorten your degree and reduce overall costs as it lowers the number of required subjects.

Check if there is an existing credit arrangement for your qualification in our Credit Transfer Database.

Can’t find your qualification in our credit database? Don’t worry! We can assess your eligibility for credit on an individual basis. You will be able to apply to have your credit assessed once you have accepted an offer to your desired program via our student portal (MyUC).
